New Direction is a brand new Northern IPA. What's a Northern IPA you ask, well it's fermented using Lallemand's brand new EXP483 yeast strain. Designed to be the best of both worlds situated right between a West Coast IPA and a New England or East Coast style IPA. So what does that mean? You can expect all the tropical and fruit forward notes from a hazy IPA but the lean and clean body of a West Coast or Cali leaning IPA.
For this New Direction, we've pumped the dry-hop with Citra, Kohia Nelson, and Motueka. On the aromas we're getting loads of lime sorbet, tropical orange and wafts of passionfruit pulp. Take a sip and this baby is downright crushfest. The flavours match the aromas with punchy orange, lime zest and almost pasito like refreshing hit. The body is light and easy to drink, really letting the hops shine. There is a balanced ester profile from the yeast gives just a hint more tropical than your average West Coast ale strain, perfect for the sunny autumn days ahead.
